Abstract

This paper presents the design and implementation of a controller for 8/6, 0.5kW Switched reluctance motor (SRM). The controller is designed to control minimum number of shift devices. It uses rotor position signal, speed signal and current signal in the closed-loop system feedback control. The proposed theme is applicable for low power rating applications. Use of electronic components makes the controller easy, reliable and economic. The test results square measure bestowed for 0.5kW, 4-Phase, 2000 RPM motor that has eight mechanical device poles and half-dozen rotor poles.
