Optimization and Fabrication of Axial Fan

Abstract

Axial fan is one of the most widely used rotating machine equipment found today. They are especially part of all heating, air conditioning, ventilation systems. It is also used for handling large volume of air relatively low pressure like cooling of electric motor and generator. We are going to optimize axial fan which was available in our fluid mechanics lab. In this project, axial fan blades were consider for the study without changing the duct geometry. Our objective is to redesign and optimize the performance of axial fan by varying the geometry of blade. In this project we are using Ansys CFX for numerical analysis (simulation) of axial fan to find out optimized fan blade geometry and then we will fabricate in. The performance optimization of axial fan will offer a great energy saving in industrial and commercial sector.
