Abstract

In this paper, an attempt has been made to improve the productivity of TORNOS Sigma 20 II with respect to the product named cap. Observing the need,we made an attempt to implement statistical process control (SPC) techniques in the industry. After conducting a test, it is clear that result of the test was good but inconsistent throughout the month and the problem is associated with work method rather than machine itself. We also found that most of the rejections for cap were due to its boring diameter. Further study of the problem leads to the conclusion that tool clamping technique is not fool proof. So the suggestion for installing new tool holder was given. Installation of new tool holder results in increased productivity.
